In Matsuki village, Tsafe Local Government Area, Zamfara State, a fellow gang boss, Dankarami Usaini, was killed by a feared bandit kingpin, Kachalla Alti, in what locals called a brutal struggle for supremacy.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama posted this information on X on Wednesday, stating that the event occurred at approximately 4:45 p.m. on Monday.
Dankarami, a 40-year-old Hausa native from Matsuki, allegedly operated from the Dangajeru jungle for a long time, extorting locals and attacking those who opposed him, according to Zagazola.
On behalf of Kachalla Alti, the younger brother of infamous armed gang leader Adamu Alero, he was in the village collecting levies.
Makama was informed by sources that locals had complained about Dankarami’s undue harassment to Kachalla Alti.
Alti allegedly responded by storming the village with his soldiers and immediately shooting Dankarami dead.
Many residents fled to nearby communities after the murder out of fear of retaliation by the loyalists of the deceased leader.
“Tension remains high, with sporadic gunfire reported along nearby forest routes,” Makama wrote.
