A group of well-known politicians paid former President Muhammadu Buhari a courtesy call at his home in Daura, Katsina State, on Friday, led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Atiku claims that the visit was made solely to offer Sallah greetings and had no political agenda.

Political analysts have expressed interest in the visit, particularly in light of the general elections scheduled for 2027.

Atiku, however, denied that the meeting had anything to do with ongoing discussions regarding a potential alliance between opposition groups.

“We came here on a courtesy and Sallah greetings visit to President Muhammadu Buhari,” Atiku told journalists after the meeting.

Among other prominent politicians in the delegation were Nasir El-Rufai and Aminu Tambuwal, the former governors of Kaduna and Sokoto States.

Atiku explained that his obligations in Adamawa State during the Sallah time were the reason for his postponed visit.

He clarified, “I couldn’t visit earlier because I was standing in for the Lamido of Adamawa, HRH Dr. Muhammadu Musdafa, in my hometown,”

Atiku maintained that the visit was merely a celebratory gesture, despite the fact that some have seen it as a calculated political move ahead of the upcoming election cycle.

“This visit has nothing to do with any political coalition or 2027. It’s about respect and goodwill during the Eid celebrations,” he added.
