Nwachukwu Anakwenze, a former World Igbo Congress president and PDP presidential candidate, has strongly cautioned the PDP against nominating Atiku Abubakar in the 2027 presidential contest.
He made this prediction because he thought that if the party did, it would lose the states it currently governs.
The PDP leader, who recently became the community’s Regent in Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area, Anambra State, called for new leadership with creative ideas that may outshine the current All Progressives Congress, APC.
“I belong to PDP. PDP has problems because people like Atiku do not want it to succeed. He is one of those holding the party down,” he said.
He emphasized the need for leaders who are completely different and able to bring about positive change, bemoaning the fact that Nigeria, in spite of its wealth, is still underdeveloped because of poor leadership. He added that the country’s brightest citizens have not held political power, which is why we are losing on all fronts.
The former presidential candidate also denounced the consolidation of power among individuals who put religion and ethnicity ahead of the interests of the country.
“In Nigeria, only people who are supposed to be in prison are the ones calling the shots,” he stated.
After His Royal Highness Igwe Patrick Mbamalu Okeke, the town’s traditional ruler, passed away, Anakwenze was named Regent of Abagana, according to ZINGTIE.
