Farouk Aliyu, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, claims that the 2027 presidential election is a “elite contest” rather than one involving Nigerians.
The alliance of opposition leaders attempting to overthrow President Bola Tinubu would fail, Aliyu said in an appearance on Arise TV on Monday.
He claimed that members of the ruling party were among the opposition leaders who had just formally endorsed the African Democratic Congress as their platform for the 2027 election.
He said, “The coalition is merely a group of former APC members who have left the party.
“While they may not pose a threat to democracy, they certainly don’t pose a threat to the APC either. These individuals are simply aggrieved with the party.
“The coalescing of people against Tinubu and the APC will not succeed, as 2027 is a different political landscape compared to 2015. This fight is not about Nigerians, it’s an elite contest”.
According to ZINGTIE, on Wednesday of last week, prominent opposition figures from the People’s Democratic Party, Labour Party, and irate APC members adopted the ADC as a platform to force the ruling party out of the State House.
