“A Tribe Called Judah,” the latest film from Funke Akindele, is the first Nollywood production to gross more than N1 billion at the box office.
After its publication, “A Tribe Called Judah” made N1 billion in just three weeks.
The CEO of FilmHouse Group, Kene Okwuosa, stated in a statement on Thursday that the globe is living in a golden age of Nigerian cinema when he revealed the historic achievement.
“Akindele’s film has not only captivated audiences but has also proven the resilience of Nigerian cinema in the face of global streaming giants like Netflix and Prime Video,” the statement added.
When “A Tribe Called Judah” opened in theatres on December 15, 2023, it became the first Nollywood film to make over N113 million in its first weekend of release.
