At the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has stated that his squad is prepared to capture a fourth championship.
At the competition’s draw ceremony in Rabat on Monday night, Éric Chelle’s team was placed in Group C alongside the Tunisian Carthage Eagles, the Ugandan Cranes, and the Tanzanian Taifa Stars.
The three-time champions should show respect for the teams in their group, according to Troost-Ekong.
After placing second the past time in Cote d’Ivoire, the Saudi Arabian defender Al Kholood also asserted that the Super Eagles have the talent to win the championship.
“AFCON 2025 draw is now over, very exciting to see the groups. Tunisia, Uganda and Tanzania. Three teams that needs to be respected,” Troost-Ekong told the Super Eagles media.
“I think we have the experience now on how to handle situation like this. There are no easy games again in Africa. That’s a common knowledge now.
“However, I believe we have what it takes to come out of this group and this time go all the way. We learnt so much last year from the AFCON in Abidjan.
“This time, we will be more ready and work hard throughout the year to make sure everyone is fit and ready.
“We are looking forward to playing under the new coach. Exciting year ahead , and I’m very happy with the AFCON draw.”
