Stanley Nwabali, the custodian for the Super Eagles, responded to South Africa captain Ronwen Williams winning the Golden Glove of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Nwabali lost the award after giving up two goals against Ivory Coast in the Sunday final when he would have won with another spotless record.

The Nigerian goalkeeper thinks his South African opponent deserved to win the Golden Glove.

Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Williams won the Best Goalkeeper award after motivating South Africa to win the bronze medal in the Africa Cup of Nations.

Williams made history as the first goalkeeper in history to save four penalties in a single AFCON shootout.

Throughout the competition, Nwabali held four clean sheets and gave up four goals, while Williams kept five clean sheets and gave up three.

“Ronwen Williams is a very good goalkeeper to be honest. It’s not news to me, him winning it, he deserves it.

“I am competing with this kind of guy and he has the chance to win the best goalkeeper of the tournament, he deserves it. I wish him well, I give him credit,” Nwabali said.
