Joseph Atule, an Enyimba forward, has blamed injury for his poor run of form.

Since joining the People’s Elephant at the beginning of the 2023–24 Nigeria Premier Football League season, Atule has been a shadow of the player he once was.

The NPFL champions have only managed one goal from the feisty forward.

ZINGTIE learnt that the 23-year-old’s pitching on the pitch was hampered by lower abdominal pain.

Atule has pledged, though, to increase his contribution to the team.

“I must say it has not been easy with me here at Enyimba,” he told Naija Football Forum.

“I started very well for the People’s Elephant. I was very happy here. I’m facing this challenge with smiles on my face but things turned around when injuries set in.

“Firstly, I will say their style of play is totally different from what I was playing in my former team.

“Secondly, injuries won’t let me enjoy football here. The next month I will be good playing, being on starting 11, the following month injury won’t let me play again.

“Lower Abdominal pains that make running difficult for me. The doctors have done several scans and treatment but it’s just there.

“I pray I get back to my normal self so that I can play and enjoy football, because this injury is something I can’t explain.

“If your efforts didn’t produce results or scoring of goals, nobody will ever believe you work hard.

“I’m doing extremely very well with the team and my efforts are felt.”
