Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and other South-Easterners detained throughout the nation must be freed, according to a new ultimatum from the Simon Ekpa-led Biafra government to the Nigerian government.

ZINGTIE recalls that since his repatriation from Kenya, Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has remained imprisoned, escalating tensions in the South-East.

A viral video earlier this week declared a two-day sit-at-home order that both Ekpa and the IPOB leadership denied, putting the entire South-East under complete lockdown.

However, Ekpa demanded in a statement posted on his X Twitter on Thursday that everyone from the zone detained in various facilities be released immediately.

Additionally, he urged South-East judges who are now serving abroad to come home.

He said the ultimatum, which is anticipated to expire on October 27, 2024, was decided upon following a meeting on Thursday.

He asserted that by appointing anti-people governors, the Nigerian legal system had exacerbated regional instability.

In addition, if his demands were not fulfilled, the Biafra agitator threatened to lock down all federal courts in the South-East starting on October 29, 2024.

“The Biafra Government, in an emergency cabinet meeting today, 24.10.2024, voted and approved a resolution to demand the Nigerian government to return every Biafran being detained outside Biafraland within 72 hours. The 72 hours will expire on Sunday, 27.10.2024.”

He threatened to shut down federal institutions, including courts, in the area if the demands were not fulfilled.
