After Nnamdi Kanu was found guilty of terrorism, the Nigerian government called for his execution.
Adegboyega Awomolo, SAN, the Federal Government’s attorney, told the court that Kanu was accused and found guilty under portions of the law that carried the death penalty with no other choice.
Following the announcement, the senior attorney addressed the court and stated that the court’s only option was to punish him as severely as possible in accordance with the law.
According to Awomolo, Kanu decided to be militant, haughty, and disorderly during the trial rather than express regret for the crimes he perpetrated against the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Additionally, he insisted that the Federal Government be given ownership of any properties taken from Kanu.
The prosecution’s attorney also insisted that Kanu be sent to a prison where his safety would be ensured until the verdict against him was carried out.
