Hon. Oriyomi Adewunmi Onanuga, a member of the Federal House of Representatives, is dead.

The representative of the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency reportedly passed away following a brief illness.

Onanuga, who served as the Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives was aged 60.

Regarding the unfortunate news, neither her family nor the National Assembly have issued an official comment as of yet. Onanuga, who was born on December 2, 1965, was a well-known politician and businessman. Since 2023, she has served in the Nigerian House of Representatives as the Deputy Chief Whip.

She was born to Nigerian parents in Hammersmith, London, and her adventure started there. She successfully ran for a House of Representatives seat in 2019 under the auspices of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

In addition, Onanuga chaired the House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development, where she promoted important causes pertaining to social welfare and gender equality.
