Obi Aguocha, the National Assembly member for Ikwuano/Umuahia, has reported that former President Muhammadu Buhari has pledged not to oppose Nnamdi Kanu’s release through a political resolution.
Aguocha made this statement after paying the former president a visit in Daura, Katsina State. He claimed that the reason he was at Buhari’s house was to ask for the former president’s help and intervention in finding a political solution regarding Nnamdi Kanu’s prolonged incarceration and prosecution.
Aguocha claims that he made use of the visit to express regret for any errors and statements made by his constituent Nnamdi Kanu and to emphasise the importance of fostering harmony and understanding.
“Former President Buhari welcomed my approach and assured me that he would not oppose a political solution for Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s release.
“This meeting is part of a broader initiative to secure a speedy political resolution and Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s subsequent release, in the spirit of dialogue and non-contentious approaches to resolving national issues”, Aguocha said.
He expressed hope that Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of IPOB, will soon be released through political resolution, thanks to the assurance provided by the former President and the letter of plea he led 50 House of Representatives members to write to President Bola Tinubu concerning Kanu’s situation.
