At the 2024 iHeart Radio Music Awards in the United States, Nigerian singer Burna Boy finally ended his poor performance at award ceremonies by winning the Best African Music Artist title.

Rapper Ludacris presented the live 2024 iHeart Radio Music Awards on FOX on Monday night.

Best Collaboration of the Year went to Rema and Selena Gomez’s song “Calm Down,” another song by a Nigerian singer.

The iHeart Icon Award went to Cher, and the iHeart Innovator Award went to American musical sensation Beyoncé.

With six prizes, including Artist of the Year, Pop Artist of the Year, Tour of the Year, Best Lyrics, TikTok Bop of the Year, and Favorite Tour Style, Taylor Swift topped the winners’ leaderboard.

Wizkid and Tems are the only other Nigerian musicians with iHeart Radio Music Awards, along with Burna Boy and Rema.

Before Friday night, Burna Boy had a losing record at award ceremonies. He had lost out on nominations for four Grammy Awards, six NAACP Image Awards, and seven BET Hip-hop Awards in 2023. He was unsuccessful in winning Best International Artist of the Year at the 2024 Brit Awards on the other side of the Atlantic.
