Men have been cautioned by Mohammed Bello Mu’azu, the Gombe State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), to find out if their “side chicks,” or girlfriends with a partner, are HIV positive.
Mu’azu issued the warning concurrently with the news of the 85-year-old man’s arrest. The man was alleged to have tricked numerous young females into having sex, and following a medical check, it was determined that he and his four wives were HIV positive.
According to Leadership, Mu’azu advised the public to avoid having extramarital affairs and to make sure they find out their partner’s status before having a sexual interaction.
Because of the shockingly high prevalence rate in Gombe State and the fact that many unsuspecting carriers are in their window of chance, he claimed that HIV is like a ticking time bomb. He advised men to be cautious and find out whether their “Side Chicks” are HIV positive.
He went on to say that the Command was confronted with significant difficulties from specific non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that encourage same-sex unions and partnerships, which is a common occurrence in the State.
Remember that in Gombe State last year, 76 people were detained on suspicion of hosting a “gay party.”
