The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has warned Nigerians about the activities of scammers who hosted a live session on TikTok, using the Commission’s logo on Thursday, 27 February 2025.
This information was shared through a statement by Dele Oyewale, the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity.
The fraudsters’ goal was to attract online traffic and deceive unaware individuals.
The EFCC reported that the scammers created six fake accounts, each featuring the Commission’s logo and the names of fictional directorates.
Among the deceptive handles were “EFCC of Nigeria,” “EFCC Lagos,” “EFCC Delta,” “EFCC of Benin,” “EFCC of Jos,” and “EFCC Saga.”
The EFCC emphasized that it does not maintain an official presence on TikTok.
The organization also urged the public to disregard any social media account claiming to represent them on the platform.
