Alhaji Umaru Faruq Bahago, the Emir of Minna, has refuted claims that purport to show that he pushed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to look into the past of the nation’s leaders and governments.

The traditional ruler’s response was included in a statement that was made accessible to journalists in Minna on Saturday and was signed by Alhaji Garba Kuta, the Secretary of the Minna Emirate Council.

He clarified that the statement was made by Malam Musa Maikudi (Achaza), the Hadimin Minna, one of the turbaned leaders of the emirate, who was misquoted in the press during a public sensitisation session.

The Emir revealed that the turbaned chief was urging the president to step up the investigation against past leaders and governments in order for the nation to recover looted funds.

The goal of the event, which was sponsored by the Minna office of the Minister of Information and National Orientation, was to raise public awareness of federal government intervention programs at the state and local government levels.

As a traditional king and father to all, the royal father declared that he was impartial when it came to political issues in Niger State and the nation, refusing to support any particular social or political organisation.

Bahago also reminded President Tinubu of the emirate’s and his own unshakeable support for his administration, and he urged the president to keep focused on his efforts to realign the nation’s economy.

“Our goal is to see that Nigeria progresses in all areas of human endeavour regardless of who or the political party in power.

“And I charge all district heads and turbaned chiefs in my domain to also remain neutral and refrain from commenting on issues on my behalf without seeking prior approval and clearance,” he maintained.

In addition, the emir praised the state’s continuous fight against terrorism and banditry, especially in the Minna emirate, for protecting communities whose primary economic activity is farming. He also praised Governor Umaru Bago for his progressive achievements and the state’s ongoing infrastructure development.
