Alex Young Vweta Egone, a fake lawyer, was given a six-year prison sentence for impersonation and forgery by the Magistrate Court 1 in Otor-Udu, Udu Local Government Area, Delta State.
Egone was charged with forgery and impersonation and was arraigned in court on Tuesday.
After entering a guilty plea to the accusations the police had brought against him, he was sentenced to prison.
According to the ZINGTIE, the fake lawyer is being detained at Okere jail in Warri.
It was discovered that prior to his arrest on August 2, 2025, by the Udu Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association, or NBA, Egone had been posing as a lawyer in Udu and the surrounding area.
After his arrest, copies of the deed of conveyance and other petitions he wrote to different Nigeria Police commands while posing as a lawyer and representing gullible members of the public were discovered in his possession by the police and the NBA’s Committee for the Prohibition of Unlawful Practice of Law Without License.
A fake NBA stamp and seal with his name and another lawyer’s Supreme Court number was also discovered in his hands.
He also had an ink pad with his name printed on it and a stamp.
When Egone was arraigned on Tuesday, D.O. Omage Esq. and G.O. Fenfe Esq. represented the NBA in court.
After being found guilty, he was given sentences of two years in jail on the fourth offense and one and a half years in prison for the first three.
Concurrent execution of the sentences was mandated by the court.
