The AA Zaura Foundation has successfully completed a digital agricultural entrepreneurship training program for 95 youths in Kano State, Nigeria. The intensive training program, funded by the foundation and delivered by the London Academy Business School (LABS) at the University of Sunderland, UK, equipped the youths with skills in modern technology, artificial intelligence, and digital applications in agro-production, marketing, and value-chain management.
The foundation’s founder, Abdulsalam Abdulkarim, emphasized that the program is designed to enable youths to create opportunities rather than wait for them. “The goal is to lead agriculture from soil to screen and connect local markets to the global marketplace,” Abdulkarim said. He called on the government to provide an enabling environment through supportive policies, investments, mentorship, and infrastructure to integrate youths into larger value chains and drive Nigeria’s agricultural and technological entrepreneurship resurgence.

Dr. Abdullahi Usman, Country Director of LABS, highlighted the need for digital entrepreneurship training in today’s evolving business landscape. “The programme, which integrates artificial intelligence and digital entrepreneurship, is the first of its kind carefully designed to foster a mindset change essential for entrepreneurial success,” Usman said. The diploma certificates awarded to the graduates are nationally recognized and also accepted in the UK, where they can be used to gain admission into degree programs
Abdulkarim reaffirmed the foundation’s commitment to youth empowerment and inclusive prosperity, urging the graduates to apply the knowledge acquired wisely to lead and feed communities digitally for sustainable development. “We are committed to empowering youths and promoting inclusive prosperity,” he said.
The training program is a significant step towards reducing unemployment and boosting agricultural productivity in Kano State. By equipping youths with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in digital agriculture, the AA Zaura Foundation is helping to drive economic growth and development in the region. The foundation’s initiative is expected to have a lasting impact on the lives of the graduates and the broader community
