Abdul Hakim Awal, a journalist from Ghana, has established a new Guinness World Record (GWR) for hugging a tree for the longest duration.

On Tuesday, GWR announced this on its official X.

“A 23-year-old journalist, Abdul Hakim Awal, hugged a tree for 24 hours and 21 minutes,” the GWR captioned the photo.

He had “to remain standing and keep his arms wrapped around the tree throughout the entire duration” in order to pull off the feat.

Moreover, he didn’t receive any breaks throughout the endeavour.

Awal stated that his objective is to “promote reforestation and nature conservation in Ghana” in reference to his accomplishment.

Awal broke the prior 16-hour record, which was set earlier this year by Faith Ariokot, an environmental activist from Uganda.
