HACEY Health Initiative, in partnership with AIICO Insurance PLC, recently organised a large-scale medical outreach to commemorate World Malaria Day 2025. The event, held in underserved communities in Surulere, Lagos, provided free malaria testing, educational workshops, and distribution of insecticide-treated bed nets and other preventive tools to over 10,000 women and girls, including pregnant women and mothers with young children.

The initiative, themed “Malaria Ends With Us: Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite,” aimed to raise awareness, empower families, and strengthen community-led efforts against malaria, a leading cause of death in Nigeria, particularly among women and children
According to Bamidele Oyewumi, team lead at HACEY, “Malaria is preventable and treatable, yet it continues to claim lives. Through this outreach, we’re equipping women and families with the knowledge and tools they need to protect themselves.”
Oyewumi highlighted HACEY’s 17-year commitment to improving health outcomes in underserved African communities and praised AIICO Insurance for their partnership. “We are pleased to partner with AIICO Insurance PLC for this initiative, which will help drive meaningful change in the fight against malaria,” he said.
Urging Nigerians to join the fight against malaria, Oyewumi emphasised, “Let us engage local communities and advocate for stronger action against malaria in Nigeria. Together, we can make a significant impact in the lives of those affected by this preventable and treatable disease.
