The All Progressives Congress (APC) unit in Kaduna State has declared that it is not concerned with former Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s decision to quit the party.

On Monday, El-Rufai, a founding member of the APC, declared his disassociation from the ruling party. Ahead of the federal elections in 2027, he disclosed that he had joined the Social Democratic Party (SDP), citing internal APC conflicts as the cause of his departure.

Yahaya Baba-Pate, the secretary of the Kaduna APC, responded to the news by stating that the party is still committed to its objectives, especially ensuring that President Bola Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani win in 2027.

He said: “We are unperturbed by former Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s defection to another party. Our main focus in Kaduna is on how to deliver the state to both President Ahmed Bola Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani in 2027.

“The APC in Kaduna State is growing by the day, as evidenced by the calibre of politicians joining the party regularly.

“We are not disturbed and will not lose sleep over El-Rufai’s decision. The party in the state is expanding more than ever before.”
