Siminalayi Fubara, the suspended governor of Rivers State, has been requested by Udengs Eradiri, the Labour Party’s (LP) candidate for governor in the 2023 Bayelsa State general elections, to plead with Nyesome Wike, the Federal Capital Territory’s minister, to reduce political tension in Rivers State.
Eradiri urged the governor to refrain from ethnicizing the deadlock, claiming that the situation in his state was brought on by the incapacity of the suspended Fubara.
“As for Governor Siminalayi Fubara, he is incompetent and that is what has brought all this negative energy. He should not involve Ijaw in his political issues and affairs. Let him tell us how he has supported the Ijaws or Ijaw activities.
“How many Ijaws of Rivers State did he empower that he is demanding Ijaw support now? How many of the IYC comrades in the Eastern zone were LGA chairmen, commissioners and appointees in his government?
“I advise Fubara to go and kneel before Wike and beg for forgiveness. Those who are deceiving him have no balls. They go cap in hand kneeling and begging the same Wike when they get it they come in the open to claim Ijaw lions,” he said.
Insisting that the INC brought shame to the Ijaw country, the former Bayelsa LP flag bearer criticized the INC’s handling of the Rivers dispute and cautioned the group against ethnicizing political matters.
He stated that the INC should not be courting the egos of the governors, adding that the organization is larger than them and that if they denigrate the INC in front of the inept governors, the institutions will be open to mockery and abuse.
He asserts that no one is more Ijaw than another and exhorts INC to safeguard all interests and avoid getting involved in politics.
