In advance of the local government elections scheduled for July 12, the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, or APC, has declared that it will formally begin its campaign on Tuesday, June 17.
The party’s State Secretariat in Ogba is the planned venue for the event.
Mogaji Oluseye Oladejo, the Lagos APC Publicity Secretary, made the news in a statement that was provided to the media.
The official introduction of candidates and the ceremonial passing of party flags will be part of the campaign launch, the statement said.
Lagos East, Lagos Central, and Lagos West are the three senatorial districts where the campaign has been dispersed; Lagos West has been further separated because of its size.
The flag-off ceremony is anticipated to be attended by party leaders as well as federal, state, and local elected and appointed authorities.
“The flag-off ceremony will be witnessed by party chieftains, elected and appointed officials of the party across the three tiers of government.
The party revealed that in order to promote grassroots mobilization and guarantee extensive outreach across the state, local organizing committees, or LOCs, have been formed in each local government.
Candidates for the positions of Chairman, Vice Chairman, and Councilor were chosen from among the 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs), 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), and 377 wards in the state at the APC’s already ended primaries.
According to the party, its campaign will emphasize the accomplishments of the departing local governments, the execution of significant social projects, and its dedication to further development in keeping with its progressive agenda.
“We wish to seize this opportunity to urge all voters to endeavor to perform their civic responsibility on the day of the elections to further grow our nascent democracy.
“The campaign will end a day before the elections in accordance with the extant laws.”
