The party with the fruit logo is the original New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), according to Musa Nuhu Yankaba, the party’s former Kano spokesperson. During an interview with DCL Hausa, he declared that Kwankwaso and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf were no longer party members.

Kwankwaso recently led a few influential party members in switching the party’s emblem to a book symbol. Yankaba urged the leaders to unite and strive for the party’s progress, stressing that the Kano state administration was elected under the original party.

He added that on November 1, 2024, a court in Abia state had affirmed Boniface’s faction as the party’s rightful leadership, finding that he was the founder and the rightful leader.

Kwankwaso and Abba do not now have a political party because the court also revoked previous actions, such as changing the logo and choosing new leaders.

Former NNPP spokesperson with the fruit logo and current Secretary-General of the original NNPP Musa Nuhu Yankaba said, “We have conducted elections at various levels, and we stand with the original NNPP with the fruit logo. We call on everyone, especially those who care about Kano, to return to our party.”
