A 35-year-old guy named Chima Okafor was involved in a sad occurrence that happened in Imo State. According to reports, a relative named Obinna Obiekea and others set him on fire over N25,000 worth of pants.
According to Sahara Reporters, the event took place at a New Year’s Eve service at a church in Nnebugwu, Oguta LGA. After being removed from the church, Chima was severely burned and ultimately passed away.
According to Uche Okafor, Chima’s father, Obiekea and his family brought his son outside during the crossover night church session, accused him of stealing jeans, and then burned him on fire.
Following the event, Obiekea and his son, Chidubem, were taken into custody by the police. Eloka, Obiekea’s other son, and his wife, Nwamaka, are currently avoiding arrest.
The case is currently being looked into further by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
In an attempt to obtain justice for his son’s untimely death, Chima’s father has contacted Aboki Danjuma, the state commissioner of police.
