On suspicion of organising an Islamist-motivated terror attack, three teenagers have been arrested by the police in Germany.
Two girls aged 15 and 16 and a boy aged 15 were arrested, according to prosecutors, because they were “strongly suspected of planning an Islamist – motivated terror attack and of having committed to carrying it out.”
The three teenagers from the Dusseldorf region are suspected of plotting “murder and manslaughter” offences as well as “a serious act of violence endangering the state,” according to a statement released by the prosecutor on Friday.
Over the Easter break, the state’s Central Office for the Prosecution of Terrorism requested an arrest warrant for the teenagers.
Investigators stated that even though they had not decided on a time or location for the attack, they “certainly saw the danger.” They had established a chat group.
According to reports, the three were following the ideology of the ISIS group. They were planning to use knives and Molotov cocktails to carry out attacks on worshippers in churches and police stations.
The mass circulation newspaper reported that the teenagers were also debating whether or not to purchase guns.
