Kiddwaya, a former Big Brother Naija reality star, has urged Nigerian billionaires to bid together to acquire TikTok. In light of the app’s possible restriction in the US, he made the call.

“What about all the billionaires in Nigeria?” he wrote on his handle. Is TikTok exclusive to white people, or can we all buy it together?

Recalling that in April 2024, President Joe Biden enacted a law mandating TikTok’s Chinese owner to either sell the platform or shut it down within a month, by January 19.

Shortly after CEO Shou Zi Chew met with President-elect Donald Trump in December, TikTok filed an appeal of the law with the US Supreme Court. In a news conference, Trump acknowledged that he had a “soft spot” for TikTok and said his administration will think about the app’s future and the potential for a ban.

To find out what will happen to their app in the US, ByteDance is currently awaiting the Supreme Court’s ruling.
