Some possible advantages of the Electronic Central Motor Registry, E-CMR, invention have been made public by the Nigeria Police Force.

It is anticipated that the E-CMR breakthrough will fundamentally alter how vehicle information is tracked and validated, particularly in cases of theft.

Using his X handle to highlight some of the advantages of the E-CMR on Thursday, Force Public Relations Officer Olumuyiwa Adejobi stated that with the technology, there would be “No more stopping to check papers- our officers are equipped with cutting-edge tech to verify documents in real-time.”

If a car registered under the NPF E-CMR is stolen, “you can instantly flag it as stolen through your online profile,” says Adejobi, and it will be found.

ZINGTIE reminds readers that Olukayode Egbetokun, the Inspector General of Police, issued an order in July of this year to enforce the Central Motor Registry’s digitalisation.

According to the IGP, the action was taken to strengthen the country’s foundation for safety and security as well as modernise and digitise the motor vehicle registration system.
