The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) North-East leadership has reiterated its unflinching devotion to Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the party’s national head, in a display of solidarity. They have stated that the party is still united and unshaken by the antics of expelled members who are trying to sow discord.

During a pivotal zonal conference in Bauchi, leaders from six states made the decision to oppose any attempt to use disinformation and judicial misunderstandings to take control of or disrupt the party.

The NNPP zonal vice chairman, Sabo Imam Gashuwa, read a statement following the North-East zone meeting that reaffirmed the party’s existing leadership as registered with INEC as the sole lawful authority.

Party supporters were comforted by the communique, which was signed by the state chairmen of Gombe, Adamawa, Borno, Yobe, Taraba, and Bauchi, that the NNPP is still a single family with strong internal democratic roots and is led by Kwankwaso’s inspiring vision.

Gashuwa, the vice chairman of the NNPP North-East Zonal, spoke during the meeting and characterized recent claims made by expelled members as “deliberate distortions” meant to mislead the public and confuse party members.

He pointed to electoral and constitutional clauses that support the current leadership’s status as INEC’s sole recognized authority.

On the April 3, 2025, announcement about the FCT High Court ruling, which did not reverse the previous Federal High Court ruling that supported the expulsion of Boniface Aniebonam, Major Agbo, and others, the communiqué also reaffirmed alignment with the NNPP National Secretariat’s stance.
