For their outstanding contributions to academic and societal development, the University of Lagos (UNILAG) will honour three distinguished Nigerians at its 55th convocation ceremony, commencing tomorrow.

The honourees are Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO); Fola Adeola, astute businessman and co-founder of Guaranty Trust Bank; and Kolawole Adesina, Group Managing Director (GMD) of Sahara Power Group.

According to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, the three awardees have made significant impacts through their scholarship, groundbreaking discoveries, and contributions to academic and societal development.

In addition to the honorary awards, two graduates with perfect 5.0 Cumulative Grade Point Averages (CGPA) for the 2023/2024 academic session will be recognized for their academic excellence.

A total of 16,343 students will graduate in the 2023/2024 academic session, comprising 6,658 from the postgraduate school. The breakdown includes 561 First Class graduates, 3,916 Second Class Upper, 3,763 Second Class Lower, 1,143 Third Class, 78 Pass, and 223 unclassified grades.
