Mr. John C. Nwosu, the African Democratic Congress’ (ADC) candidate for governor of Anambra State, stated that saving Nigeria from poor administration is the main reason why some political players are banding together to create a coalition.

Only a coalition can rescue Nigeria from the poor administration exhibited by the All Progressives Congress (APC), according to Nwosu, who recently defected from the Labour Party for the ADC and subsequently accepted the party’s governorship ticket.

“Rescuing Nigeria is now a compelling imperative,” he told reporters in Awka on Wednesday. It is in the public and national interest to stop the drift given the extent of state control and bad governance we are seeing.

“I have moved to ADC. We have values and choices. You need to be able to defend the platform from where you operate. Where there are obvious conflicts to conscience and integrity, you excuse yourself or risk being party to the wrongdoings, that was why I left APC. ADC presented a credible alternative.”

Speaking about the anticipated coalition, which is allegedly centered on ADC, and its members, Nwosu stated that the necessity of saving Nigeria from poor governance is more important than who is joining the alliance.

“Coalition is exactly what it says – a gathering of like minds or people or platforms with a similar or common interest.

“However, personalities and candidates can drive or influence a coalition. The common interest now is to salvage the sinking ship called Nigeria.”
