The arrest comes after a 32-year-old Nigerian woman who was allegedly in a higher-ranking position within the network was arrested last Friday.
After being taken to the Limassol District Court, the suspect was placed under four days of remand. Teresa Christoforou, her lawyer, did not challenge the detention order.
From April 2024 to the present, investigators discovered 13 sexual service ads connected to the suspect’s bank card that were put on a well-known internet platform.
The woman denied participating in the events during interrogation, saying she had lent her bank card to another person for online purchases.
According to investigators, she recruited other women for prostitution activities in a flat in Limassol, including the most recent suspect and a victim who had already been recognised.
Two suspected ringleaders are still at large, according to police sources, PhileNews reported.
An intricate scheme including people in charge of renting apartments, publishing internet ads, and providing the victims with apparel and accessories has been discovered by the inquiry.
Investigators are also having trouble because victims are said to have entered Cyprus illegally, leaving official records of their genuine names lacking.
Further efforts are being made by the Cyprus Police’s Anti-Trafficking Unit to find more members of the network.
