The children of veteran Nigerian singer Onyeka Onwenu, Abraham and Tijani Ogunlende, have announced their mother’s passing.
According to a joint statement from the two brothers, following an incredible last performance, the actress and journalist was taken to the hospital, where medical professionals did everything in their power to preserve her life until she tragically passed away.
My brother and I would like to announce the loss of our beloved mother, Onyeka Onwenu, with heavy hearts.
According to the children, their mother was adored and would be missed.
They called Onyeka a “icon and legend” who touched the lives of many through her acting, charity, singing, and humanitarian endeavors.
They also expressed gratitude to Mr. Peter Obi, Mr. and Mrs. John Momoh, Mr. and Mrs. Okonkwo, Messrs. Ajayi and Mr. Okpara, and Governor Alex Otti, others, who supported their mother in her final moments
“We are also appreciative of Reddington Hospital and all their staff for their efforts.
“As we take the time to make the necessary plans, we would like you all to take the time to remember her life, the contributions she made and the impact she made on so many lives, including ours.” the statement added.
