Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has revealed a comprehensive ₦159 billion infrastructure development plan for 2025, covering road construction, education, and healthcare.

During a press conference on Tuesday, Adeleke emphasized his administration’s dedication to delivering democratic benefits to the people, despite facing political challenges.

He also reassured the public that, in line with his administration’s policy, no loans would be taken to fund these projects.

“In line with my promise never to be distracted from my vowed commitment to serve the people of the state, I am today unveiling a new set of infrastructure projects. These projects will further expand the dividends of democracy to all corners of Osun State.

“Our approach to funding the new infrastructure plan is to rely on state allocations from the Federation Allocation, Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), and special funds accruing from the return of funds owed to the states by the Federal Government.”

Adeleke highlighted the progress of his administration since launching a multi-billion-naira infrastructure initiative in December 2023. He noted that over 150 kilometers of roads, 200 primary healthcare centers, and 99 schools have been completed or rehabilitated across the state.

He provided updates on major ongoing projects, such as the Ilesa dualization and the Ile-Ife flyover, both of which are 60% complete.

“The Oke-Fia flyover is over 90% done, and the LAMECO flyover is about 50% executed. We are pushing ahead with these mega projects and assure the public of their completion within this fiscal year,” he added.

“The new set of projects includes a ₦101.8 billion investment in the road sector. Major projects listed include the Osogbo-Iwo-Oyo State boundary road at ₦5.94 billion and the Osogbo-Ikirun-Kwara State boundary road at ₦13.7 billion.

“New projects for 2025 include the ₦10.42 billion dualisation of Odo Ori Junction-Post Office Junction-Adeeke Junction and the ₦12.65 billion dualisation of Ila township road.”

“Other significant roadworks include the ₦8.05 billion reconstruction of the Ijebu-Jesa-Ere-Ilahun-Ibokun road and the ₦10.89 billion Ada-Ibokun-Ilase-Idominasi road project.

“Upgrading, lighting, and beautification of major roads and roundabouts in the state capital will also receive ₦5 billion in funding.

“In the education sector, ₦1.98 billion has been earmarked for the renovation and construction of schools across various districts. Projects include the renovation of a school hall and pavilion at Ede High School, Ede, at ₦50.2 million and the ₦200 million renovation of Agbonran School of Science, Ede South.

“Other schools benefiting from the plan include Oranmiyan Memorial Grammar School, Ile-Ife, at ₦149.5 million, and Ogedengbe School of Science, Ilesa, with ₦137 million allocated for classroom and hall renovations.”

Governor Adeleke also revealed that the health sector would receive significant attention, with ₦2.76 billion allocated for the full renovation of the remaining 124 primary healthcare centers across the state. This is part of the administration’s continuous effort to improve healthcare access and quality for Osun residents.

“Our administration will not leave any project uncompleted. We remain focused on providing quality infrastructure that will positively impact the lives of our people,” he assured.

He urged citizens to support the government’s initiatives and be patient as the projects progress.

“We are building a stronger, more prosperous Osun State, and these projects are key steps toward achieving that goal.”
