A pro-PDP group operating under the name PDP Frontiers for Change and Progress has claimed that the media campaign against Senator Adolphus Wabara, the chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT), is being directed by Mr. Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The group also claimed that the FCT Minister was responsible for the political unrest in Rivers State during their speech to journalists in Umuahia, Abia State.

Emeka “Yellow” Ikpegbu, the group’s national coordinator, criticised Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s response to the recent visit of PDP BoT members, saying that no amount of media attention directed at Wabara and other PDP BoT members over their visit to the Governor would be successful.

The group backed the recent demand for Wike’s expulsion from the PDP made by Chief Edwin Clark, an elder statesman and leader of the Niger Delta.

The National Coordinator stated that efforts were underway to rebuild the PDP in Rivers State and other regions of the country, adding that Wike was taken aback by the BoT members’ visit and their guarantees to the Governor.

“The visit enjoys the full support of PDP progressives across the geopolitical zones. Wike thinks he can still control the state after being in power for eight years.”

He called on allies, particularly the PDP governors, to support the members of the BoT in their sincere attempts to realign the party for a “landslide victory in 2027.”

The group claims that the FCT Minister’s attempt to turn Governor Siminalayi Fubara into a puppet was unsuccessful.

Ikpegbu, noting that godfatherism has been a major issue endangering the umbrella party, asked PDP leaders and stakeholders to rise against it and establish internal democracy.
