Jideofor Adibe, a political science professor at Nasarawa State University, Keffi, has advised Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the general elections of 2023, to be wary of the opposition alliance led by the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, allocated its 2027 presidential ticket to the southern part of the nation when Adibe made this call.
He offered the counsel on Tuesday while answering queries during an interview on Channels Television’s “The Morning Brief.”
“I wouldn’t want to advise Peter Obi; he has his own advisors. At the end, he has to make his own decisions, but if I were him, I would be extremely suspicious,” he said.
According to ZINGTIE, the ADC has not yet zoned its 2027 presidential tickets to Southerners, whereas the PDP and the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, have already done so.
Atiku Abubakar, a former vice president and part of the ADC alliance from northern Nigeria, has expressed interest in a 2027 presidential bid.
The lecturer characterized Obi as someone who always has a backup plan for decisions rather than making snap judgments.
“It’s up to him to know what his own political strategists are telling him and what these moves are, but I believe that once any announcement is made, they create scenarios.
“However, I believe that in the next couple of months, it will become clearer what informed the PDP’s decision to say that they are zoning this issue,” he said.
