Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has expressed profound concern over the recent wave of violence in Bokkos, Plateau State, where entire families were brutally massacred in another horrific attack.
In a statement shared via X, Obi mourned the tragic loss of innocent lives, including children and pregnant women, as five communities Mangor, Tamiso, Daffo, Manguna, Hurti, and Tadai were left to grieve their dead.
This latest assault underscores the escalating insecurity in Nigeria, a nation that is not officially at war but is increasingly plagued by widespread violence, kidnappings, and criminal activities.
“How much longer will these killings, kidnappings, maiming, and criminal acts continue?” Obi asked, calling on the government to take immediate and decisive action to curb the growing wave of violence.
He condemned the normalization of mass burials and the fear that has taken hold of communities across the country.
Obi highlighted similar attacks in Jato-Aka (Benue), Eha-Amufu (Enugu), Ufuma (Anambra), and Aba Oyinbo (Ondo), stressing that no Nigerian should live in constant fear or be deprived of their livelihood due to insecurity.
The former governor called for urgent intervention from the government and security forces to not only end the violence but also ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
“We must end this grief and terror; this is becoming extremely unacceptable,” he stated
Offering his condolences to the people of Bokkos and the other affected communities, Obi reaffirmed his commitment to a safer, more secure Nigeria.
