The Lagos police command has detained ASP Owolabi, a police officer who sexually assaulted a 17-year-old girl in the Ojota area.
ZINGTIE recalls that the Ojota Police Station officer was accused of defiling a child in his office.
A comprehensive and extensive investigation into the claim was directed by the Commissioner of Police in the Command, according to Benjamin Hundeyin, the public relations officer for the Lagos State Police, who verified the arrest in a statement posted on his X handle.
He claims that the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency referred him for arrest on July 1, 2024, and that letter was sent to Adegoke Fayoade, the Commissioner of Police.
The Commissioner of Police directed an immediate investigation into the situation based on the referral letter.
“The Command assures the public that there is absolutely no attempt at a cover-up as such hideous acts are at variance with the code of conduct and professional ethics of the Nigeria Police Force.
“To this end, CP Fayoade once again assures Nigerians that the officer would be dealt with in accordance with police regulations and the law if found culpable,” he said
