Controversial Nigerian musician Habeeb Olalomi Okikiola, better known as Portable, has been sentenced to three months in prison.

The sentence was handed down by Chief Magistrate Babajide Ilo in Ogun State.

In April 2023, Portable was brought before the Magistrates’ Court in Ifo on a three-count charge involving assault and the theft of musical equipment, as outlined in charge sheet No. MIF/192C/2023.

He was granted bail at N300,000, with two sureties from his immediate family.

Reports indicate that Portable appeared in court last Thursday, but was remanded in custody after failing to attend previous hearings, despite multiple adjournments.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Olumide Awoleke, had informed the court that the offences occurred on November 18, 2022, around 11 a.m. in Okeosa, Ilogbo, within the Ifo Magisterial District.

After reviewing the case, Chief Magistrate Ilo found Portable guilty of the first and second charges. He was sentenced to one month in prison for Count 1, with an option to pay a N10,000 fine. For Count 2, he received a two-month sentence, with the alternative of paying a N20,000 fine.
