The Nigerian government must fulfill two requirements set forth by US Congressman Riley M. Moore before any collaboration with the US military to tackle the nation’s security issues can be contemplated.

In an interview with Fox News, Representative Moore stated that Sunday Jackson’s release—who was given a death sentence for killing a Fulani herdsman in what he claimed was self-defense—is the first prerequisite.

According to ZINGTIE, Jackson was given the death penalty for the alleged invasion of his farm by a herdsman.

The Republican representative stated in the interview that the US would not contemplate working with Nigeria to address the ten-year security situation until the young man was freed.

The Nigerian government must provide a convincing strategy to disarm Fulani herdsmen who are fueling violence in the Middle Belt, he continued, as the second need.

He said, “It sounds like they are open to partner with the United States to stop these killings. They met with myself and the administration as well.

“We made some progress in getting them to place to partner with us to stop these killings but there is a lot of things they need to do and I think one of the first steps is releasing Sunday Jackson.

“Another one of coming up working with us with a plan to disarm the radical Fulani militants in the Middle Belt of the country.”
