Rio Ferdinand, a veteran of Manchester United, named the toughest player he has ever faced while excluding former Ballon d’Or winners Ronaldo Nazario and Karim Benzema.

Ferdinand was first asked to select between Ronaldo and Arsenal icon Thierry Henry in a recent interview with GOAL.

The former England defender talked about playing against Ronaldo at Old Trafford in 2002–03, the season the Brazilian scored an iconic hat-trick.

Ferdinand chose legendary Arsenal player Dennis Bergkamp over Ronaldo in spite of this.

Additionally, he chose Bergkamp over former Ballon d’Or winners Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo.

In the end, Ferdinand said that Raul, the legendary player for Real Madrid, was “one of the hardest” players he had ever encountered, surpassing all others on his list of formidable foes.
