The All Progressives Congress (APC) Rivers State Chapter has called on the federal government to take a firm stand against Omoyele Sowere, the African Action Congress’s (AAC) 2023 presidential candidate, for his recent attacks on President Bola Tinubu and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Tony Okocha, the party’s factional state chairman, called on Nigerians to resist those he called “rascal and nitwit” who seek to undermine the nation’s integrity.
Spreading false information with the obvious aim to go too far or damage someone else’s reputation or integrity is “unacceptable,” according to Okocha.
He asserts that it is a treasonous criminal to try to encourage Nigerians against the government and that any malicious activity that has the potential to erode public confidence and endanger Nigeria’s democracy is intolerable.
According to ZINGTIE, Sowere recently called President Tinubu a “criminal” while accusing Wike of using public monies to purchase pricey homes in Florida, USA.
Reacting to the allegations, Okocha said: “In every democracy, criticism is welcome, but what Nigerians must reject are deliberate lies, propaganda, and attempts to defame under the disguise of ‘activism’.
“This is exactly what Omoyele Sowore, publisher of Sahara Reporters has perfected over the years. Sowore has built his entire career on lies. His Sahara Reporters platform is notorious for publishing fabricated stories and half-truths, often used as tools for blackmail and extortion.
“These baseless allegations are nothing more than the bitter rantings of a man rejected by Nigerians at the polls and drowning in political irrelevance.”
He questioned how any rational person in a nation could call the head of state a “criminal.”
