The chief of staff to Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Chidi Amadi, has resigned.
Joseph Johnson, the state’s commissioner of information and communications, confirmed the resignation to reporters on Wednesday and stated that the governor will choose a replacement when it is suitable.
He said, “The former Chief of Staff, Hon Chidi Amadi, has resigned. The governor will announce another Chief of Staff at the appropriate time.
“It is the prerogative of the governor to appoint when he wants it. He will tell us, and we will announce it, and you will also get the release to that effect.”
Amadi, who hails from the same Obio/Akpor Local Government Area in the state as Wike, was the chairman of the PDP in the LGA before being named Chief of Staff. He was also a well-known ally of the Federal Capital Territory and FCT minister.
With Amadi’s departure, the number of crucial Fubara cabinet members who have broken with him due to the disagreement between the governor and his erstwhile political mentor, Wike, now stands at ten.
