The Defence Ministry in Moscow announced on Wednesday that the Russian military had thwarted attacks on the Russian port city of Novorossiysk by two unmanned Ukrainian drone boats carrying explosives.
The ministry claims that the boats were damaged in the sea.
Russia’s Black Sea Fleet has positioned many of its warships in the sizable port of Novorossiysk on the Black Sea for deployment against Ukraine.
At first, the ministry made no mention of possible damage. It happened after nearby explosions were reported by the local media.
The Belgorod and Bryansk areas on the Ukrainian border, as well as the Moscow region, were the targets of repulsed drone strikes, according to the Russian Defence Ministry.
The claims could not be independently confirmed.
In Novorossiysk, authorities shuttered streets in the coastal area and activated sirens during the night, urging citizens to stay indoors.

Authorities said that on May 17, 44 drones were shot down, resulting in damage to about thirty buildings.
On February 24, 2022, Russia began its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Ukraine has started attacking targets in the Russian hinterland in an effort to cut off military supplies, having previously concentrated on driving back Russian forces from its territory.
But the strikes have also frequently affected civilians.
On the other hand, the repercussions on the Russian side of the border were negligible in comparison to the large number of casualties and extensive damage brought about by Russia’s persistent strikes on Ukraine.
