Afrobeat singer Seun Kuti has disclosed that Fela Anikulapo Kuti, the late father of the genre, had more than 100 concubines.
According to Kuti, the public was unaware of Fela’s more than 100 concubines residing in his home; they were only aware of his 27 marriages.
He revealed this on the most recent episode of the podcast “Bahd & Boujee,” which is co-hosted by actress Moet Abebe and reality personality Tolanibaj.
“People only know of Fela’s 27 wives, they don’t know of his over 100 girlfriends that lived with us in the house,” he remarked.
Remember how Seun Kuti recently disclosed that his late father, Fela, wed 27 women on the same day in an effort to protect their honour and dignity because his female dancers and band members were already being labelled as “prostitutes” by the media.
In 1978, Fela married 27 women in a single day in what was seen as a very daring move.
