Former Sokoto State Governor Attahiru Bafarawa has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP.
Bafarawa served as the executive governor of Sokoto State, Nigeria from May 29, 1999, till May 29, 2007.
In a letter to the PDP’s national chairman, the former governor stated that he had now recommitted to a new young movement with a revolutionary vision.
The politician stated that in order to prevent any possible conflicts of interest, he would now only be concentrating on developing channels for youth empowerment.
As politicians plan for 2027, ZINGTIE recently revealed that Abbas Sani Abbas, the former Kano Commissioner for Rural and Community Development, defected from the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Prior to being sacked as a commissioner, Abbas was a NNPP cardholder.
Along with Dr. Abdullahi Bichi, the Secretary to the State Government, and a few other cabinet officials, he was fired by Governor Abba Yusuf.
The sacking came after some NNPP leaders demanded that Governor Yusuf assume tight control of the state’s affairs.
