The discovery of 39 coins and 37 magnets inside the gut of a guy who believed consuming zinc would boost his muscular mass astounded a team of doctors.

The odd procedure was performed at Delhi’s government-run Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, and it was successful. At the hospital, the 26-year-old patient, who was experiencing a mental health crisis, complained of frequent vomiting and stomach pain.

It was alleged that throughout the previous three weeks, he had visited a number of other hospitals in the area. It was also alleged by his relatives that he had not been able to eat.

His relatives also stated that he had been receiving treatment for a diagnosed mental health condition for several weeks and had been ingesting coins and magnets.

Magnets and coins found inside the young man’s stomach

Before an abdominal CT scan showed that many of the metal objects were clogging the intestines, an x-ray of his abdomen had only shown shadows of the objects. He was hurriedly brought in for emergency operation.

37 magnets in different shapes, including stars, triangles, hearts, bullets, and spheres, were taken out by the medical team. 39 more coins were taken out as well. Coins for one, two, and five rupees were among them.

Thank goodness, the surgery went well.

The metal was found to have formed two distinct loops in the small intestine during the procedure, which resulted in a magnetic attraction that ruptured the internal organs. Eventually, the items were taken out, and the broken sections were repaired.

Thankfully, the patient was released in good health following a seven-day recuperation period. Subsequently, the patient disclosed that he had swallowed the coins, thinking the zinc would support his bodybuilding efforts.

To ensure that the coins would remain in his colon and prevent them from passing through and allowing for better absorption of the chemical—which can be hazardous in excessive doses—he made the decision to eat the magnets.
