Ayekooto Akindele, a leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has stated that President Bola Tinubu can only be retired in 2031 by a future combination of opposition political parties.

He was responding to statements made by former Social Democratic Party presidential candidate Adewale Adebayo that former PDP and Labour Party presidential candidates Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi were in negotiations to join the SDP.

Adebayo claimed that they would remove Tinubu from office in 2027 after joining the SDP.

He had said that Atiku, Obi, and other well-known politicians who were open to joining the SDP would overthrow and retire Tinubu and the APC provided they adhered to the party’s principles.

Ayekooto responded by stating that, in contrast to Tinubu, who will retire to Lagos, Atiku and Obi will be politically homeless.

Posting on Facebook, Ayekooto wrote: “We will retire Tinubu to Lagos – SDP

“Yes in 2031. But what I love most about this statement is Tinubu and Lagos. When Obi retired as Anambra Governor, he didn’t retire to Anambra, he came to Lagos.

“When Waziri Adamawa retired as VP, he didn’t retire to Adamawa but Abuja. When GEJ retired, he went to Bayelsa.

“When OBJ retired, he went to Ogun, when Buhari retired, he went to Katsina.

“Osinbajo relocated to Ikenne. Obviously, in 2031, Tinubu will go to Lagos. Shame on Obi and Atiku, they’re politically homeless.”
