Troops under Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have averted a planned bandit assault in Jen village, situated in the Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State.
Security expert Zagazola Makama revealed the development in a post shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday evening.
Makama explained that the troops acted promptly after receiving a distress alert around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, leading to their swift deployment to the affected community.
“On sighting the advancing troops, the suspected bandits fled the scene. The soldiers pursued and successfully crossed a nearby river to clear the bandits’ suspected avenue of approach on the opposite side,” he stated.
The prompt response by the military reportedly disrupted the planned attack, averting possible loss of life or destruction of property.
The situation in Jen village has since returned to normal, with soldiers stepping up patrols and maintaining a heightened security presence to prevent further threats.
