Thomas Mathew Crooks, the gunman who tried to assassinate former US President Donald Trump, had explosive materials in his home and vehicle.
According to US security sources who spoke with Fox News, Crooks’ car contained supplies to make bombs when it was parked close to the Pennsylvania event.
“There were explosives, including an IED, found inside a car driven by Thomas Matthew Crooks found parked near the scene of the Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania,” sources confirmed to Fox News.
Although the sources stressed that multiple bombs were discovered, they were unable to specify the type or quantity.
Law officials also discovered bomb-making components at Crooks’ home.
The 20-year-old made an attempt to assassinate Trump on Saturday as he was campaigning in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Crooks fired multiple times, striking Trump only in the ears. However, the secret agency killed him right away in response.
According to reports, the 20-year-old used an AR-style weapon.
